The Washington County Barn Quilt Committee is a group of volunteers working to encourage the placement and promotion of large painted quilt blocks, and attaching those blocks to historical farm buildings in Washington County.

Objectives:
Preserve Washington County's farm and cultural history;
Promote agri-tourism;
Stimulate economic development of rural communities;
Increase value of rural heritage

Activities;
Display quilt blocks on old barns/farm buildings in highly visible places on hard surface roads at strategic locations throughout Washington County
Assist building owners with the quilt pattern selection
Promote all barn quilt blocks in Washington County through publications, website, media releases and maps.


Barn Quilt Categories
Committee Sponsored
Committee recommends and selects strategic quilt locations based on factors including access to hard surface roads, visibility and historic farm building placement;
Committee makes arrangements for block's painting and time/date of when block will be erected
Owner may make a financial contribution to the Committee, typically $300 or any portion thereof
Quilt blocks will be designated on website, and printed materials as "Committee Sponsored"


Committee-Supported
Barn owner requests block assistance from committee, knowing that the block is not on the original tour route
Barn must be in Washington County and Washington County Barn Quilt Committee assists in pattern design selection
Committee may coordinate construction and painting, cost to owner is $275 for one quilt block
Quilt block installation is responsibility of owner
Owner may have quilt designated on website and printed as "Committee Supported"

Self Sponsored
Owner selects pattern, constructs and installs own barn quilt in Washington County
Owner may have quilt designated on website and printed materials as "Self Sponsored"
